Founded in 2009 by the late Historian and WWll Veteran Nat Hickey, the Freeport Historical Museum is located in Historic Downtown Freeport, Texas and focuses on over 300 years of history and Freeport's impact on the Texas Coast.

Bilingual interpretive panels guide visitors through Freeport's rich and diverse history. The museum archives house hundreds of artifacts from Freeport and the surrounding areas. The Dan Kessner Research Library features thousands of carefully compiled photographs from the Brazosport area, as well as local yearbooks from every year dating back to 1947.
